FIRST CARIBBEAN DOCUMENT STORAGE BUILDING
Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, British West Indies.
This 465 m2 (5,000 sq.ft.) facility is to provide high level security storage for all forms of bank records. The reinforced concrete structure can withstand a category 5 hurricane and has a floor elevation above the 100 year storm surge. Temperature and humidy control as well as electronic monitoring are ensured in all circumstances by a back-up generator which is housed in a separate secure room along with its fuel source.
The perimeter fencing is a combination of local stonework and open galvanized fencing between. Inside the fence is a five foot wide planting strip of local cacti and thorny shrubs. These provide green, flowers and a natural deterrent for the curious. Inside the planting strip is 3 m (10 ft) of asphalt paving to allow police and private security vehicles to drive around the building.
The inside of the structure has a sealed Loading Room, several different sized storage rooms and vaults, a document viewing room for approved visitors and staff support spaces.
